Systematic Reviews

Finding Answers: Disparities Research for Change conducted reviews of racial and ethnic disparities intervention literature to identify successful strategies and provide health care organizations, providers and payers with recommendations on how they can address disparities in their own organizations. Finding Answers published two sets of systematic reviews in Medical Care Research and Review and Journal of General Internal Medicine. They reviewed over 200 studies that outlined interventions that had the potential to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in 9 disease areas, including cardiovascular disease, asthma, and several cancers. Additionally, the research surrounding two specific approaches—cultural leverage and pay-for-performance incentives—was examined and provides insight for future intervention development.
